Take Your Referral Marketing System to the Next Level

Apr. 29, 2014 | Posted by The Alternative Board

At TAB, we are bringing together thousands of business owners, Presidents and CEOs to share business tips and advice that will help their businesses achieve greater success. We like to share these solutions with the greater business community in our monthly newsletter, TAB’s Business Tips from the Top. This month’s business tips focus on various marketing techniques that can help you take your business to the next level.

We recently did an in-depth blog series on creating an effective referral marketing system. When this business tip came through our TAB Connect channel, I just knew we had to share it! One of our TAB Board members shares that he includes vendors in his referral marketing system. Oftentimes we look to our clients to give us referrals, but another good place to ask for referrals is from vendors.

Your vendors know you and your business quite well. The advantage to your vendors in providing you with referrals is that it helps keep you as their customer. They also want to keep you happy.

Pro Business Tip: Include a vendor referral document with each of their payments. That way, you know they are opening the envelope! Provide several ways for the vendor to send you their referrals, whether it is mailing, emailing or faxing the completed document back to you, or encourage them to call or email you informally with a referral’s contact information.

It is important to make sure you are keeping your referral marketing system consistently active. Including vendors is a great referral marketing idea that will only help build up your sales pipeline. Have you started your referral marketing system yet? What referral marketing ideas have you tried that have worked or not worked for you?
