Training a New Employee: Develop Confidence and Competency

I have a new office employee to train, and I also have plans to leave the country in three weeks. While the timing is not optimally lining up, I have a plan in place to ensure my new staff person is equipped with what they need to succeed in my absence.

My approach will be to identify the tasks I need the employee to do while I am gone, determine what resources are available for each task, and focus on the tasks where there is no resource to go to for guidance. I have people and additional resources in place to be available while I am out of the office.

I will also prioritize the areas where we need to develop confidence and competency and train on those items first.
